Senior Class Trip to Las Vegas, NV - Everyone had fun!

by Brittany Christianson

Lincoln seniors in Las Vegas!

On Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, at 5 p.m., the senior class headed on their long journey to Las Vegas. One their first night’s journey, the seniors stopped in Provo, Utah. They got a good nights rest and headed off again the next day around noon. They arrived in Las Vegas around 8 p.m. The girls and Billy (yes, there was one senior young man in the group) were so excited to be in Vegas! They were screaming in each car and taking pictures frantically like it was their only night there. Everyone finally arrived at “the castle” (The Excalibur). “We were so excited to get up into our rooms and just relax and unpack. We all came into the rooms and just sunk. They were so nice and ‘homey.’”
The first night out on the town the class went to the mummy museum and the fish museum/aquarium. It was so fascinating; there were so many different things on a grand scale that the class had a chance to experience. Of course, each day involved shopping; after all, there were twelve girls and all of them were shopaholics. Las Vegas has tons of food courts, so the seniors were able to choose the place they wanted to eat at and go there. The class had made a rule that they had to meet back at a certain time and place, and no one was allowed to go anywhere without a partner or a chaperone. That night the Class of 2008 went and saw The Blue Man Group. It was crazy, and everybody was so into it. They were all participating in the events that had been going on.
“The second day that we were there we did more shopping, it too was crazy, it seems that everything we did involved spending money. We went to the M&M factory and the Coca-Cola factory. The M&M factory was huge—there were at least 4 different floors, and candy everywhere. In the Coca-Cola factory, it was a little different, and I would say a little older than the M&M factory, there was just 2 floors, and not as packed as the M&M factory, but it was still a great experience just to go in there. Cirque De Soleil was crazy, it was so different. It was a child’s , ll of his wildest dreams coming true. Acrobatics, dancers, it was just amazing.”
On the third day there was more shopping (of course), but most of all, there was a lot of site seeing. It was all just so beautiful. “But that night, we went to see the Tournament of the Kings. It was crazy! The people there were so loud and so into the things going on in the arena. Our group was in the “Dragons” part of the presentation, which meant we were rooting for the Dragon rider. He was more dangerous. He had been the “devil” rider. He wasn’t in the tournament as much as the other riders, but when he came out, it was worth the wait to see his appearance, just entering the arena. It was fantastic.”
It seemed that the days flew by like in a blink of an eye. “On our finale day we did loads of things, we went to the Efile Tower, not the real one of course, but it was still high up and above the whole city. Many pictures were taken, the scenery was just wonderful. After the Efile Tower, we went to the Dolphin Exhibit, and the Tiger Exhibit. It was an amazing experience, seeing people handle the dolphins. It was great!

The whole trip to Las Vegas was wonderful. But we couldn’t have done it without the support of our great community, parents, and friends. We would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to our chaperones Jami Beach, Linda Menard, and Teresa Brown. And the biggest thank you to our Class Sponsor Shane Brown. Thank you all for making this trip possible.
